When Hope Feels Heavy

blank

There’s something strange about having a business centered around hope… and still having days where hope feels hard to access.

Today is one of those days.

This blog was supposed to be written yesterday. Posted today. Neatly packaged, intentional, meaningful.

Instead, it feels heavy.

Not because I don’t believe in hope, but because sometimes, believing in it takes effort.

And that’s the part we don’t always talk about.

Hope is often painted as light.
As something that lifts us, carries us, inspires us.

But what about the days when hope feels… distant?

When your body feels tired.
When your mind feels scattered.
When even the smallest tasks feel bigger than they should?

What then?

Today, I’ve done things.

I’ve checked boxes.
I’ve shown up in ways that matter.

And yet – this one thing, sitting down to write, feels like the heaviest lift of all.

Which makes me wonder…

Maybe hope isn’t always about feeling inspired.

Maybe sometimes, hope looks like:

  • going for a walk when you don’t feel like it
  • stepping away instead of pushing harder
  • letting something be late instead of perfect

Maybe hope is quieter than we think.

We talk a lot about self-care as if it’s soft and easy.

But the truth?

Self-care is work.

It’s choosing to do the small things that support you – even when you’d rather not.

It’s recognizing when your nervous system needs space.
When your mind needs a break.
When your expectations need to soften.

So today, hope doesn’t look like productivity.

It doesn’t look like hitting every deadline or feeling energized and inspired.

Today, hope looks like this:

I’m going for a walk.
I’m giving myself space.
I’m coming back to this when I have a little more breath in my body.

And trusting that something will meet me there.

If you’re feeling this too – behind, heavy, a little disconnected – you’re not alone.

You don’t need to force your way into hope.

You can walk your way into it.
Rest your way into it.
Breathe your way into it.

And if you feel like you need a little more support, reach out.

There is space to be held while you find your footing again.

Whether through conversation, coaching, or simply having someone walk alongside you — you don’t have to navigate it alone.

With light & love,
